Full Moon Party PDF Print E-mail

party timeThe Full Moon Party, the most celebrated party in Koh Phangan, is held monthly to mark (as the name suggests) the Full Moon, attrackting travellers from all over the world, in the search of freedom and transgression. The wonderful frame for this event is Hat Rin, until few years ago just a fishermen small village located between the two wonderful beaches of Hat Rin Noi and Hat Rin Nok.

In the occasion of the Full Moon Party, the spectacular beach is enlightened by fire, candles as well as any type of available light and taken up by a frisky crowd. The party is at its apex when the full moon rises from the horizon and the beach turns into an unchained jungle of sounds and fireworks. The party goes on until the sunrise.

The day after Hat Rin beach returns to its former wonderful self (apart from some worn-out party goers who lie sleeping on the beach) but you can most certainly not miss Thai ladies who provide relaxing and therapeutic massages.Sunrise at Full Moon Party

Parties are organized also in the occasion of the other lunar phases (“half moon” and “black moon”) and in the period close to the Full Moon Party. In particular, the Moon Set Party held at the Pirates bar in our Chao Pao bay is known as one of Koh Phangan parties that take place in the most amazing location.

You should be aware that if the full moon falls in a calendar date devoted to any Buddhist holiday, then the party is postponed to the day after.
